Alhaji Kromah:The Mandingo Moses of the 21th century

                                                       By: Abu-Bakar Fofana, June 23, 2007

I was over laden with despondence to know from the June 17,2007 communication of Hon. Varflay A. Dulleh, that some deceitful and misguided elements from the Mandingo community are seriously contemplating on disruptive activities to their own detriment which however, could have some adverse consequences for all sides. Their unsuccessful attempts at blocking the keynote speaker ship of His Excellency former vice chairman of the council of state, Professor Alhaji G.V Kromah, has only purely expose the iniquity of
this hooligan group of pro-Taylor gangsters among us.

I believe the impending Liberian Mandingo Convention should serve as a harbinger of unity among the
Mandingos. (The single instrument needed to achieving the political and social freedom we are denied in our
own country, Liberia.)

Alhaji Kromah is undeniably and unarguably our political voice and leader in Liberia. His selection as the keynote speaker was and remains a justifiable decision.

Alhaji Kromah, whether or not those who oppose him agree, is the modern hero who brought us into the broad
light of Liberian national politics and must be given the credit and due respect. A red carpet welcome awaits him.

His Excellency Alhaji Kromah is the first, if not only, modern-day Mandingo leader who pellucidly revealed his Mandingo and Islamic identities despite the aversive misconception other Liberians harbor
about members of these groups. The combination of his Mandingo-Islamic names clearly reflects his originality, which he often brags over. "Fortunately, I'm a Mandingo, and I'm proud of it "he once said.

He is the Mandingo Moses of the 21th century, leading his people back home where they had earlier been forced out by members of the horrendous NPFL. He voluntarily chose to do so rather than come to the U.S. where he would enjoyed the privileges accorded a U.S. resident.

But his loving and kind heart ,over weighed with discontent and sorrow by seeing his people languished in foreign countries, living in destitute and despair; living the most degrading life any human could
endure, impelled him to put his life on the line and led his people back home. If we fail to remember him
for this, I'm sure history wont. The days of our political and social marginalization's were only ended
by his political intervention.

We shall realize a political success in Liberia only if we give him a united base of support rather than
sit under the boiling pot of self-destructive disagreement and criticism.

The likes of those who criticize Kromah today only serve the interest of those politicians who sought our
total elimination from Liberia, politicians whose tongues remain tied about the massacres carried out against Mandingos, though on the other hand they condemn other massacres.

Kromah is our inspirational leader who we shall always stand by. You ingrates can choose to follow another course, but remember, the trap you set is capable of catching. You intrigues will die where they started.
